WASHINGTON, DC (PRWEB) NOVEMBER 30, 2016 | STEMconnector® – a consortium of over 160 organizations actively working together to advance the future of STEM education and careers – celebrates its 5-year anniversary today. From the beginning, STEMconnector® consolidated itself as THE leading organization convening industry, academic institutions, and non-profit organizations to drive collaboration and partnerships that contribute to advancing STEM education. STEMconnector® is based on a model that builds upon sharing best practices and collective knowledge in order to develop SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and timely) talent development strategies that fulfill millions of STEM jobs. As part of the 5-year anniversary celebration, a new version of STEMconnector®’s website, STEMconnector.org is unveiled.
Edie Fraser, CEO, STEMconnector® & MWM reflected, “As we look back five years, our mission was to build an ecosystem for STEM education and STEM jobs. Our growth happened because of STEMconnector®’s mission-driven goals coupled with the active engagement of our members as partners. Gaining STEM careers success means we redouble efforts to ensure the best STEM Jobs with the right skilled workers.”
Through different initiatives and services, STEMconnector® provides its members with a variety of opportunities and platforms that align with their priorities. STEMconnector® has advised over 80 corporations to develop, execute and benchmark leading STEM engagement plans.
STEMconnector®’s signature programs include:
Million Women Mentors (MWM)
Global STEM Talent Summit (GSTS)
STEM Innovation Task Force (SITF)
STEM Food and Ag Council (SFAC)
STEM Higher Education Council (SHEC)
During its first five years, STEMconnector® published numerous reports and white papers in partnership with key members. STEMconnector® celebrates its emphasis on women and diversity as represented not only in MWM but rather diversity commitments from all of the Councils.
STEMconnector® relies on a committed team. Both Ted Wells and Lorena Fimbres were instrumental in building STEMconnector® from inception. Ted Wells adds, “Collaboration is a critical driver of innovation and in the last five years we have helped enable collaboration. Our new site furthers this core value and builds capacity for new types of connectivity. We are excited to use this resource to provide value to the STEM community and to our members.” Lorena Fimbres shares, “STEMconnector®’s strength is building a prime network of members that are actively engaged. We couldn’t be more proud of our members, their commitments, the brands they represent and how each of them work everyday to positively impact the future of STEM careers. Their commitment, knowledge and passion are key to our success and growth.”
Leveraging leaders is a mainstay for STEMconnector® and its programs. As we celebrate our 5-year anniversary, we salute and give thanks to all of the corporate, higher education, non-profit, and government leaders who have joined our call to action. As we look forward to the next five years, we urge all corporations and organizations to join us. What started five years ago as a project has now turned into a global movement. The day will soon come when people stop asking if your company is member but rather why aren’t you a member of STEMconnector®.
